Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity, Alpha Rho Alumni Association
Off Road Trip 2002, April 12-14, 2002

There will be an Alpha Sig Camping and Offroading trip at NJ's Wharton State Forest organized by your Alpha Rho Alumni Association. Aside from camping and offroading, the park also offers fishing, hiking, cooking raw meat on sticks with fire, and the chance of maybe catching a glimpse of the legendary Jersey Devil.

The offroading terrain has trails which are suited for beginners. Mostly dirt roads, bumps, a few mud holes, and other stuff that a stock 4WD truck can handle without fear of wrecking your vehicle and needing a taxi to get to work on Monday morning. In addition, there will be seasoned offroading expert guides* there to assist you. Even if you would like to go just as a passenger, there'll be open seats available for that as well.

The park has 4 rivers and a lake for fishing. NJ fishing's opening day is the week prior so the fishing should be excellent. There's miles of hiking trails throughout the park. One could also visit the historic Batsto Village, an 18th century glass and bog iron manufacturing town with 33 really old buildings.

So if you like camping, offroading, fishing, making (controlled)fires, hiking, Revolutionary period history, or any combination of the above, this should interest you.

If you plan to attend, or if you have any questions, please let me know as soon as possible as campsite reservations need to be made.

Thanks,
Dave Barker

* It's hotly debated whether such a thing as a "seasoned offroading expert" truly exists, but let's pretend.
