The annual kickoff picnic & BBQ will be held on Sunday September 19th at Merrill Park in Iselin. PLEASE NOTE THIS DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED FROM THE PREVIOUS ANNOUCEMENT IN THE DUES MAILER. As a bonus, this year’s event will feature the First Annual Alpha Sig Bocce Tournament. Time permitting, we also plan to fire up a game of Ultimate Frisbee. Merrill Park is a nice park that we’ve been to in the past for this event. The park is located very close to the middle of the state to try to make the drive short for as many people as possible. More info about the park is below.
Bocce will be played in teams of two with the only rule being that at least one member of the team be a brother. If someone goes out to the PBT (Pro Bocce Tour) and brings a ringer to the event with them, more power to them. If you plan on attending and have a bocce set that you can bring, please let me know. In the past, the picnic was a fantastic event year after year. Attendance has dropped off in the past couple years. I can guarantee that this year the only ingredient that can keep this event from being great once again is your participation. I encourage you all to attend, and if you are, please give a call out to another brother who you may not have been in touch with for a while and ask them to attend as well. Why - because there is no rule requiring that we have to do all of our catching up in January at the Black & White.
I know it’s only a request, and probably will be overlooked by most, but if you can take the 2 minutes to reply to this email with an RSVP (even if you can not attend), I would appreciate it, and it would greatly help in the planning of the BBQ. If you do plan to attend, please also include how many guests will be attending with you.

The park is located right near Garden State Parkway exit 131. The park has 3 playgrounds, a petting zoo, a jogging-rollerbalding-biking track, basketball courts, and a lemon ice stand. For more info and directions to the park, please visit:

Once you enter the park, you must bear right to go around a loop. Our picnic area will be Grove 1-A and should be clearly marked.
