The weather was perfect. Playing softball in the sun for a couple hours made it a little warm, but everyone got a chance to cool off in the well shaded picnic area.
The Sig Series was kicked off with the softball game which began at about 1pm EST. The game started slowly, but then exploded into an Alumni rout, with the senior members plating 18 runs before the Undergrads put one up on the board. Chris Lambert had a tremendous outing on the mound for the alumni while Undergrad pitcher, the infamous "Turtle", had his problems in just about every inning but the second.
The Alumni poured on the hits all day long. Even when they seemed to be coasting in to the finish line, the Alumni reserves came in and did their damage. The game went rather quickly, but the hot sun made it seem longer. When all was said and done, the final score was 28-3. 28 runs is really an estimate because the idea of keeping close track of the score was abandoned at about run number 20.
