With a 6-3 win in hockey, the Sig Series was clinched (and swept) by the Alumni. Being that the remaining events have no outcome on the overall series, we're going to shake things up for Sig Series #5, which is scheduled for March 24th at noon.
Last year after the Series was clinched, bowling produced only one Alum in attendance. This year, instead of playing volleyball or bowling versus the Undegrads, we're going to have a 3 on 3 Round Robin basketball tournament with the Undergrads. Teams will be split up at random, and the winning team members will be awarded (not-so valuable, but nice) PRIZES!
PLEASE NOTE: This tournament is for players of all skill levels. If you enjoy playing basketball even the slightest bit, you should be at this event. Teams will be chosen RANDOMLY from whoever is attendance that day. Even if you are not the next Kobe Bryant, you still have a shot winning the tourney because you could get teamed with Skully and either of those ridiculously tall Undergrad kids (aka Mike and Brian). If you don't win...worst case is that you have fun and get some exercise.
On March 24th, please show up at the Chapter house at 11AM or at the gym by 11:30AM! This is important as we only have the gym reserved for a LIMITED TIME, and must start ON TIME! Also, because this is a tournament with 3 man teams, it's very difficult to fairly add players and/or teams after it's begun.
The plan is to have another Round Robin Tournament in place of Sig Series #6, which is scheduled for April 14th. However, the event has yet to be decided. If you can make it on April 14th and have a suggestion or preference, please reply to this note, and let me know. Please keep the suggestions to sports that can be played within the NJIT gym. Some ideas: 4 on 4 volleyball, 3 on 3 wallyball, basketball again, maybe doubles badminton...
If you plan on coming the 24th, please reply to this email and let me know. This way I can prepare the drawing for teams and the schedule of play earlier than 5 minutes before the tournament.
