Dear Brother:
Summer is once again right around the corner. Another year has passed since we last saw each other at the meeting of the members. As it has been for the past several years, the Annual Meeting of the Members/Convention will be held at the VFW Hall in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. The year, the dates of the convention at June 1-3, with the pinnacle of the Convention, The Meeting of the Members, being held on June 2 at 10:30 AM.
If you have been to the convention in recent years, you might remember convention of 2000, with Brother Marty Lyons challenging the Brothers to come up with $1000 house donation, then his matching that donation. Convention 1999 saw the members elect Kevin Ruta as President of the corporation, succeeding Bruce DiBisceglie, who vowed to take a much-deserved break. Then, we saw Bruce volunteer for yet one more "tour of duty" as the Department of Law Chairman. Convention 1998 saw Brother Humberto Bacquerizo impress everyone with a P.R./Recruitment presentation never before soon. Will you be there to witness the highlights at this year's meeting?
Speaking of highlights, this year's meeting is shaping up to be quite an imperative one in our chapter's history. We are very close to purchasing the present chapter house at 267 King Boulevard, and the Board of Directors, along with our landlord/brother Gary Saita, have worked very hard to put a deal together which is amicable for all parties involved. Want to know the details, and how this affects you? Come to the meeting to find out.
As always, this year we will be electing 3 members to the Board of Directors, along with President and Vice-President. Please bring this ballot with you to the meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please mail back the proxy ballot (PDF document) to the Alumni Association address located on the letter.
If you are interested in helping out or being on the board, please contact me personally or any member of the current BOD and any one of us would be happy to speak with you. We also need volunteers for the Housing Committee, the Alumni Committee, as well as many other projects.
The Convention will have all the familiar amenities again this year, Coffee and Donuts at 9:30, the meeting at 10:00 and the Barbecue to follow. If enough people are interested, and the field is free, we can even have a softball game on the field down the street from the VFW, so bring a mitt, heck, bring Amit is you speak with him. If you are interested in making a weekend out of it, or you have any questions at all, please contact me at the number/email below. If there is enough interest, I'd be happy to arrange a group of rooms at a local hotel (ed note: notes on the Colonial Motel are online).
